In China, the dragon is regardes as a mystical and sacred creature, there are many legendary tales surrounding it. And we can see a lot of products like clothes being printed with dragon, some companies are using dragon-related stories to promote their products and usually receive a positive response. Today, I will introduce a dragon-related watch coming from the biggest watch company in China, which is Sea-gull. It is a good-looking watch, the entire design is good, I think it meets most people’s aesthetic preferences, but it won’t be sold well in Chinese market, there are two reasons, first, it is too big for most Chinese persons’ wrist, second, there are no other dragon elements on the watch except the dragon engraving on the case back.

This is a very good-looking diver’s watch, I love it more than the other Sea-gull watches I have. It has a big case, simple dial design and multiple band choices, all these can make it a very classic diver’s watch. There are two color options, black/red and black/blue.

The case is made with 316L stainless steel, the black coating is evenly applied on the case, the black bezel insert is metal made with big white markers, there is also an eye-catching diving scales in red from 0 to 15 minutes. Different from other Sea-gull Ocean Star watches, this one has a cushion-shaped case that features a dragon carving on the back.

On the dial, the markers, hour hand and minute hand are wide and are applied with enough luminous material that could last very long.

Anyway, I want make a conclusion on this watch, the following are about its advantages.

Big-size case with simple dial design, which is also highly readable.
Uniform color usage, classic black and red, the red stitching and red circle perfectly match the red color on the bezel.
ST2130 movement, which is the mostly widely used movement among all Sea-gull movements, its accuracy and stability have been tested for many years.

It has been a long time since my review on a Sea-gull watch last time, no matter how many homage watches there are in China, how good quality they are, Sea-gull is always the boss in China, it is the first watch I suggest you buy from China. In the past, I introduced several Sea-gull watches on my blog, I know some people have bought them after reading my reviews, some of my friends also have one or two Sea-gull watches in their collection, the development of China watch industry has made a big progress in recent years.

I know everyone wants a moon phase watch, because it looks very sophisticated. The moon phase is a complication of the watch that will show you the status of the moon in one month, like new, waxing and full. A moon phase watch should not be too complicated, the more simple designs it has, the more popular the watch will be, just like the Jaeger LeCoultre Maste Moon Phase, which is a very hot timepiece in the market.

I introduced several pieces of Sea-gull moon phase watches on my blog before, but the Sea-gull I am going to review is the most elegant one among them because it’s somewhat similar to the Jaeger LeCoultre Moon Phase. The watch has a case measured to be 39.5mm in diameter and only 11.5mm in thickness, for a moon phase watch, this case size is perfect, but it will be much better if the case can be thinner. And for such an elegant timepiece, a stainless steel case and a blue leather band is a classic combination.

The dial features sunburst guilloché engraving, creating a dynamic play of light. It is the first time for me to see such a texture on a watch dial, these guilloché engraving are exquisitely finished by Sea-gull, the engraving is more refined and thinner on the center, and gradually becomes obvious and thicker to the outer. And when you swing the watch, you can find sunburst light reflection on these engravings.

At 6 o’clock on the dial, there is a round indicator showing you date on the outside circle and moon phase inside. The small hand on the center is pointing at current date. The moon phase runs a circle per month. The connecting area between the round indicator and the main dial is well processed, no flaws could be found.

Seeing through the crystal back, the movement has very beautiful finishes on the plates, it is a Sea-gull ST1818, which has 24 jewels, 28,800 bph and 42 hours of power reserve. I have had this watch for three days, now it gains 6 seconds each day.

Other two colors available, the blue one looks great.

For most watches made in China, they are just copying the designs from the Switzerland, but Sea-gull is the only Chinese watch on which sometimes I can still find creative designs, take this 1051 models as example, this is a watch Sea-gull launched in 2024, but it soon caught a lot of attention after being released in the market because of its unique dial design. The most outstanding and popular 1051 model from Sea-gull is the one with colored blocks on the dial, please check the first picture shown below, but this time I chose the ice blue dial version, which will be more like a watch I can wear regularly.

Check the first picture, the watch’s dial will remind many Chinese people of their childhood, especially the happy time in the generation after 80s, watching TV is a very happy time when they are childs, but the TV will have a maintenance time on Tuesday each week, I think most of them will remember this event. So, Sea-gull absolutely adopts the maintenance scene of the TV as the dial design of the watch.

This Sea-gull watch with an ice blue dial also looks amazing, its case shape is very similar to that of the old TV, actually there are other brands that have already adopted this idea on the case of their watches, this is not originated from Sea-gull. However, the TV scene on the dial is a very creative Chinese element Sea-gull added. The case is 36mm in diameter, with this ice blue dial, I think it will also be a good watch for women. A silver dial option is also available for this watch, with more obvious sunburst finish on the dial. The case is not a frame with sharp edge design, but looks more round on every corner, which guarantees a very comfortable wear. The round bezel has a polished finish that looks contrast in visual with the brushing on the case. Just like the contrast finish on the stainless steel bracelet.

The ice blue dial has long stick hour markers, day and date window with stainless steel frame is set at 3 o’clock, they do not look crowded on this small dial. Besides the TV dial, ice blue and silver dial, Sea-gull also offers a lot of other dial colors for this watch.

The watch is equipped with a Sea-gull ST2100 automatic movement, which beats 28,800 times per hour and has 28 jewels. The accuracy will not be bad if you remember to keep winding a bit every day. However, its price is a little high, for Chinese customers, they won’t mind spending a bit more on such a empathy timepiece.

There are good quality watches made in China, do you want to buy any watch from China? I do not know which watch you mostly want to buy from China, but Sea-gull is indeed a good choice. Besides Sea-gull, Beijing, Shanghai, Fiyta, there are also many other niche brand watches that are sold at cheaper prices, you can read reviews on the internet about many watches made in China, especially in Reddit, many watch fans are talking about them in the community, but it will be more helpful if you have a contact in China that can buy watches for you, sometimes, it is much more cheaper when you order a watch from Taobao, and I can check the quality of the watch more carefully before shipping.

Today, I want to introduce a Sea-gull watch I bought from Taobao, I have done a research on all mechanical watches made in China, and found this is the most famous watch whose price is under 500 yuan, which equals to 69 USD. Under this price, there are only several watches from China that worth purchasing, this Sea-gull 6066 is one of them. There are stainless steel, gold and two tone style for this model, I chose the one with silver dial and black leather band.

The watch has a 41mm case diameter but not look that big on my slim wrist, the case thickness is about 11mm, I thought it would be too big, but actually it is a perfect size for my wrist. Maybe because I chose the one with a leather band, if with a steel bracelet, I will need to remove several links on each side. For slim wrist, I always think a watch with leather band is more suitable. The entire case is polished, the two crown guards have a certain degree of slope design that can be perfectly mixed into the case, the crown has a Sea-gull “S” logo in satin finish that forms a high contrast with the polishing background.

The watch is equipped with a ST16 automatic movement that is also used in many Sea-gull watches whose dial is skeleton. ST16 has a power reserve of 36 hours, I have had this watch for about two weeks, now it gains 15 seconds every day. From the crystal back, we can see this movement has beautiful engraved decorations on the plate.

It has been a long time for me not to introduce a new model from Sea-gull watch company, Sea-gull has always been the first choice for many people who are looking for the best Chinese watches. On my blog, the most watches I introduced are Sea-gull watches, the most watches readers asked all about are also Sea-gull watches, so it seems like many people are interested in this Chinese brand, I also own several Sea-gull watches, including dress models and some diver’s models, today, I am going to review another Sea-gull watch which I just received, it is a new watch Sea-gull just published. It is a good watch, but I do not think it is an outstanding homage.

The box of the big three watch companies, including Sea-gull, Shanghai and Beijing, always better and looks more official than that of other watches. This Sea-gull has a blue box that is hard, its inside has layered structure that allows you to put the watch and manual separately, the watch can be put in a place steady. Look at the Sea-gull, which watch it reminds you? Yes, when I first saw this new model on the website of Sea-gull, I remembered one Rolex Cellini watch with a moon phase indicator. I am very sure that Sea-gull refers the design of the Cellini watch on this new model. However, I do not like it very much.

First, I need to say this is a very high quality watch. But there are two parts I do not like, the stainless steel case and black leather band. The bezel and crown are in rose gold, I do not know why Sea-gull did not use rose gold on the case, it will look better if the entire case has a rose gold tone. Actually the black leather band is not a big issue, but a brown leather band will be a better fit for this watch if it has a full rose gold case. By the way, this Sea-gull watch is sold at nearly $470, I think they should use a full rose gold case under this price level.

The watch is sold at a high price because it has a real moon phase function, check the indicator at 6 o’clock on the dial, it shows the phases of the moon in the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere. On the white dial, there is a fork in blued steel that is pointing at current date on the outermost. The moon phase can be adjusted through the button on the case at 8 o’clock. The date can be adjusted through the button on the case at 4 o’clock. The crown, which has a satin-finished “S” logo, can be adjusted for winding and time adjustment. The hour hand, minute hand and those bar-shaped hour markers are all well cut and have perfect chamfer polishing.

The movement displayed through the crystal back is a ST2108 developed by Sea-gull, it has 28 jewels, 28800BPH and 42 hours power reserve. From the movement pictures shown below, we can see a beautiful decoration on the movement plates and auto rotor. It says the watch is 50m water resistant on the stainless steel rim of the case back.

The band is ok, not made with alligator leather, but calfskin leather, with embossed crocodile prints on the surface. There is a “SEA-GULL” engraving in satin on the buckle.

My advice:

If you are not a loyal fan of Sea-gull or just considering Sea-gull as your first Chinese watch, do not buy this moon phase watch because it is too expensive. There are a lot of other Sea-gull watches in casual style you can buy, they are very good, please see my reviews under Sea-gull category. If you are addicted to moon phase watches, then this watch can appear in your purchasing list.

Very tired recently, one of my family members got cancer, bad news, feel so sad, what is the real meaning of living in this world? Hope you guys always keep healthy. However, I need to work, otherwise there is no money to pay hospital cost. I like writing blogs about watches, in next months, I will write more articles and do some experiments on them, so that you will not consider too much things when need to buy a China made watch. Today, I will introduce another Sea-gull watch, Sea-gull is my most favorite Chinese watch brand, this watch is the type a lot of people will consider to buy especially it has an opening window on the dial, this is very popular in the past. Now there are still a large part of people like this dial layout.

The watch copies the design of Breguet? I do not know, while I like this style very much. The watch is 42mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness, the size and thickness are acceptable for most watch fans. The case frame is big enough and it has a thin round bezel, so the dial won’t look so crowd even so many functions displayed on the dial. The big onion-shaped crown is very convenient for you to operate.

The white dial looks very classic, one big window opened at 6 o’clock with two ends fixed on the dial to enhance the stability. Two fan-shaped indicators show date and week, all hands are in classic blue, the lancet-style hour hand and minute hand will catch the attention of many people I think. The date and week can be adjusted through the buttons on the case. Check the dial carefully, you will see delicate patterns on different parts of the dial.

The watch is powered by a ST2505 automatic movement by Sea-gull, another reason why I like this watch is it has a crystal back, you can see beautiful fish-scale patterns on the auto rotor and movement plate, and there is a golden Sea-gull logo on the rotor. Many homage watches use Sea-gull movements, Parnis likes to use very much. This is an old model published by Sea-gull in 2014, now you could not find it on official website of Sea-gull.

About the big three, I introduced one bronze pilot watch from Beijing Watch Company before,I did not know Sea-gull has made a bronze watch, now I am going to show you a good-looking pilot watch from Sea-gull,it is made with bronze and has a green dial.Sea-gull is my most favorite China brand, you guys can try one or two Sea-gull watches,they are good and have almost all styles you want,from simple to complicated,some models also have a big attraction to people who love Chinese elements and stories.If I say Sea-gull is the boss in Chinese watch industry,do you agree? The Sea-gull 3015 here is a pilot watch,its design features such as crown and hands as well as lume are very similar to that of Zenith Pilot. The green color looks very nice with the bronze case, and you can also uses a green rubber band on the watch, look at the last picture, it looks very beautiful.

The watch has a big size whose diameter is up to 41mm, the case thickness is about 12mm, almost all pilots watch have the similar size, some even have a 43mm case diameter. The bronze case is brushed with a big crown that is very convenient for the wearer to operate. The case back is not bronze but made with titanium that is in matte finish, there is a small window opened on the center to display the movement. By the way, the bezel uses green sapphire crystal, the markers inside have been applied with lume material, they can emit green lume light in dark conditions.

The green dial has a simple design, its big hour markers, long hands and strong lume all enhance the readability of the dial. In dark conditions, the green lume light on the dial can last for a long time, the lettering “WR 100M” means the watch is 100m water resistant. The second hand has a section on the top that is applied with orange color that just echoes with the orange minute markers.

The watch is equipped with a ST2130 automatic movement that is independently developed by Sea-Gull Watch Company, this movement has a 28,800BPH, 28 jewels and a power reserve more than 42 hours. The black litchi veined leather band is a regular fit for this watch, while I think the green rubber band looks more beautiful on this bronze watch, if changed the hands type, I think it look more like a diver’s watch with this green rubber band.

I like this Sea-gull watch more than any other watches made by Sea-gull, whether it is casual watch or diver’s watches, all of them can not be compared with this one now, because it has become my most favorite watch. I have bought several Sea-gull watches, but none of them look that elegant like this M199S, and this one seems to be a complicated model, which combines functions of hours, minutes, small seconds, date, chronograph and moon phase. In my opinion, this watch from Sea-gull has learned the essence of the design of some Swiss watches, and shows the elegance to the max. Now you can not get this watch from Sea-gull Official website, it is sold out, I got one from my friend, he bought it in China. The watch has a classic combination in color of black and white, it is made with 316L stainless steel and fitted with a black leather band, seeing from its design in case and crown, as well as the elements on the dial, the watch has a bit of vintage style.

The watch has a large case diameter that is measured to be 41mm, not including the crown and buttons on the right, and the lugs seem to be longer than that of other watches, the whole round case is polished, with a see-through crystal back. The entire case design must refer to the design of some Swiss brand watch, I just do not remember. By the way, the satin-finished “S” on the crown looks very refined. There are several places on the watch that make it look so elegant, the onion-shaped crown is one.

The silver white dial also has several elements that make it an elegant watch. First, the rome hour markers, which are in black color and look in high contrast with the white background. The hour hand and minute hand on the center are leaf-shaped and are very slender, this is the second element that looks elegant. The small dial at 12 o’clock is date display, you can adjust it by pushing the button at 10 o’clock. The arched indicator at 6 o’clock does not show real moon phase, but a display of Day & Night. Any way, I am very pleased with the dial finish and its functions.

The movement is ST1908, which has 22 jewels, 21,600BPH and about 38 hours of power reserve. I recommend you gently rotate the crown when winding the watch, usually the manual winding movement has more frail parts than those automatic movements. It is fine if you do less than 20 rotations every time when winding.

It is another vintage watch from Sea-gull Watch Company, I introduced a lot of Sea-gull watches on my blog, but I found the ones I love most are not these diving-style models, some vintage watches and those models made to pay tribute to old Sea-gull watches are actually more attractive to me. Today, the watch I will show you guys is a vintage Sea-gull watch which now you can not find on the official website of Sea-gull, but some distributors may have it in stock. I love these vintage watches from the big three from China like Sea-gull, Shanghai and Beijing, having been tired of seeing repeated designs on so many modern watches, the designs of these Chinese vintage models sometimes look more classic.

The watch has a very unique case shape, which you can hardly see on modern watches, the case is only measured to be 39mm in diameter, but it looks large because of the fat and wide lugs, the whole piece of case has an arched shape that can fit your hand in a more comfortable way, the watch will be suitable for people who usually love to wear the watches whose size is range from 38mm to 41mm. By the way, the case is about 12mm in thickness. The front of the case is polished, while it is brushed on both sides. Both crown and solid case back are screwed down, the back has a big sculpture of Sea-gull bird in polishing on a sanded background.

I think this watch will fit people with small wrist size better. The silver dial is a big selling point of the Sea-gull watch, especially the red color usage, which highlights the entire watch. The second hand on the center has a red dot on the top, which echoes with the red font in the date window set at 3 o’clock, this design also enhances the readability of the whole silver dial. The three-dimensional Sea-gull logo has a blue background, this type of logo now can be hardly found on modern Sea-gull watches, and it looks very beautiful.

The Sea-gull watch is equipped with a ST2130 automatic movement, which has 28 jewels, 28800BPH and 42-hour power reserve. The watch comes with a smooth black leather band with black stitching, Sea-gull also offers one stainless steel bracelet for it, both look great on the watch.

It is another diver’s watch I like, the watch is from Sea-full, which is the best Chinese watch I think, I introduced a lot of Sea-gull watches before, they are my most favorite Chinese watches, if you want one diver’s watch from China, I recommend the Ocean Star from Sea-gull. Today, I will introduce another Sea-gull Ocean Star, look at the pictures below, are you very familiar with it? This blue Sea-gull watch looks like a homage of the Omega Planet Ocean, especially its blue and orange color, I do not remember which Omega Planet Ocean model now, but it is not completely copied, the dial has a different design, besides the blue, Sea-gull also offers a green model, the watch is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, Sea-gull also offers one extra pair of nylon/rubber band is blue and orange color.

The size of the watch is big, made with solid stainless steel, if you choose to wear with a steel bracelet, the watch will be much heavier than other diver’s watches because it has a big case. I like the orange and blue band more, it matches the watch better. The finish of the watch is ok, but unfortunately the bezel is not ceramic made, it is alloy. The case has a diameter of 44mm, a big size, most men won’t choose this size because it is too big, well, the case is not too thick, only about 12.5mm. The case does not look so strong even it has a big size, I would love it more if the crown guards are bigger.

The bezel is not ceramic, it is uni-directional rotating and has orange diving scales from 0 to 15 minutes. The bezel tooth have wide mouth design, not deep and sharp like the bezel tooth on Submariner’s bezel. The dial is blue that exactly matches with the blue color on the bezel. The dial has a high readable design, besides the strong and long-lasting lume light, the hour markers and hands have wide design so that can be applied with more lume material, even under a weak light condition, the dial still has a good readability because the high-contrast dial color of blue and orange. There is no extra GMT hand, but with an inner bezel that displays the time of the second time zone, the inner bezel can be adjusted by the button on the case at 10 o’clock.

The watch is powered by a ST2130 automatic movement that is independently developed by Sea-Gull Watch Company. The movement has 42-hour power reserve and 28 jewels, it beats 28,800 times per hour. Such type of Sea-gull movement has an inaccuracy of about 15 seconds each day. About the band, the blue nylon(outside) and orange rubber(backside) band fits the watch better. By the way, Sea-gull claims that this watch is water resistant to 200 meters.
